MLAX Falls On Road To Anna Maria Wednesday, 16-12

PAXTON, Mass. - The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's lacrosse team allowed eight goals in the fourth period and fell on the road Wednesday afternoon to the AMCATS of Anna Maria College (ANM), 16-12, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) road contest on Caparso Field.

Five Blue Jays scored two goals each to lead the way for the visitors, including junior midfielder Evan Baden (Burlington, Conn.), and sophomore attack Ryan Paltauf (Southbury, Conn.), who also had two assists each totaling four points. Saint Joseph assisted on six of 12 goals. The AMCATS meanwhile were led by senior attack Nick Massaro (West Haven, Conn.), who scored a game-high four goals on the day.

It was a strong start for the visiting Blue Jays who were looking to make it two for two vs the AMCATS since the program's debut in 2020 (USJ won 19-12 in 2021). After scoring three of the first four goals and leading 7-4 at the halftime break, Saint Joseph appeared to have the game in hand, scoring the first goal of the third stanza on a man-up score from Paltauf (assisted by Baden). Unfortuantely for USJ, Anna Maria put it in a higher gear and scored five unanswered to take a 9-8 lead. The momentum had swung in the hosts' favor and despite regaining the lead at one stretch of the fourth, the AMCATS pulled away late and scored eight in the final period to take the win.
