Men's Lacrosse Trio Awarded All-Conference Honors

Men's Lacrosse Trio Awarded All-Conference Honors

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — The 2021 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Lacrosse All-Conference Teams were announced Tuesday morning, and three members of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's lacrosse team, senior attackman Owen LaPorte (Farmington, Conn.), junior attackman Matt Guerin (East Longmeadow, Mass.), and sophomore attack Evan Baden (Burlington, Conn.) received honors.

OFFICIAL GNAC RELEASE

LaPorte was dominant for the Blue Jays in his final season in a lacrosse uniform, leading the GNAC in the regular season in goals with 38 (nine alone in a 22-4 win over Mitchell on March 10), twice as many as any other Blue Jay. He also helped lead Saint Joseph to its first GNAC playoff game in program history, an 18-9 setback to Johnson & Wales in the GNAC Quarterfinals on May 1. LaPorte received All-GNAC Third Team honors for his efforts, as did Guerin, who finished runner-up on the team in assists (10), was third on the team in points (25) and third in goals (15). Guerin was mister consistency in 2021, scoring or assisting in all but one game. Baden, who finished tied for third in points this season with 21, made the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team. The accolades for the trio marks the first all-conference honors in program history.

All selections and awards are decided upon by a vote of the GNAC's head coaches. For the complete breakdown of All-Conference Teams, as well as the annual All-Sportsmanship Team, please see below.
