
Men's Hoops Cruises Past Regis College, 101-67, on the Road Saturday
WESTON, Mass. – The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's basketball team eclipsed the 100-point mark for the first time in 2024-25, taking down Regis College (Regis), 101-67, on the road during Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play Saturday afternoon on Higgins Court in Weston, Mass. With the result, the Blue Jays improved to 13-5 on the season and 7-0 in GNAC play, while the Pride fell to 5-12 overall and 0-6 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a back-and-forth start to the game, USJ broke open a six-point lead, 11-5, as a 7-0 stretch was capped off by a pair of free throws from junior guard Lence Altenor (Everett, Mass.) at the 14:48 mark.
- Regis would fire back though, utilizing five unanswered points to hold a 21-18 lead as the game reached a media timeout with 7:34 left in the first half.
- The Pride increased the gap to six, 24-18, but a 7-0 Blue Jays scoring stretch, featuring buckets from freshmen Adelphe Cisse (Pointe-Noire, Congo) and Jakari Tertulien (Bridgeport, Conn.) and a triple from Altenor, swung the lead to USJ's favor, 25-24, with 5:47 left on the first-half clock.
- The lead continued to trade hands, until the Blue Jays closed the half on a 10-0 run, headlined by a pair of three-pointers from Altenor, to send the Blue Jays into the half with a 40-31 advantage.
- USJ began to pull away to open the second half, as senior guard Kevin Cummings (Portsmouth, N.H.) knocked down a pair of shots from the charity stripe, before Cisse stole the ball and finished with a dunk at the other end, forcing the Pride to call a timeout trailing 44-31 with 18:04 on the clock.
- The Blue Jays continued to dominate, extending the lead to 19, 54-35, after junior forward Friedrich Feldrappe (Berlin, Germany) recorded back-to-back buckets with 14:51 left to play.
- USJ began to put the game out of reach with 8:49 on the clock, as senior guard Amadou Kamara (West Haven, Conn.) and Altenor drained back-to-back three-pointers, increasing the gap to 75-52.
- The Pride would not be able to close the deficit, as USJ outscored Regis 20-7 during the closing five minutes to take home the victory, 101-67.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Altneor and Feldrappe paced the team with 24 points, each.
- Altenor tied his career-high of 24 points for the second consecutive game.
- Cummings also recorded 20 or more points, tallying exactly 20 on the day.
- Altenor also hauled in a team-high eight rebounds.
- Tertulien dished out a team-best six assists.
- USJ was lights out shooting the ball, posting a 66.7 field goal percentage (36-of-54), and 57.7 percent clip from three (15-of-26) and a perfect 100.0 percent from the free-throw line (14-of-14).
- The Blue Jays outrebounded the Pride, 33-17.
- With the win, USJ extended its GNAC regular season winning streak to 69 games.
