Jackson Sinks Buzzer-Beater, Men's Hoops Stuns Clark in Season Opener, 67-65

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - Junior guard Tyshawn Jackson (Hartford, Conn.) made a contested floating jump shot along the baseline as time expired to lift the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's basketball team to a thrilling victory, 67-65, over the Clark University Cougars in its 2024-25 season opener Wednesday night at home inside James A. Calhoun Gymnasium in West Hartford, Conn. With the result, the Blue Jays opened their new campaign 1-0, while the Cougars dropped to 1-1 on the young season.

With 11.7 seconds remaining in regulation, senior guard Kevin Cummings (Portsmouth, N.H.) inbounded the ball into the backcourt to Jackson. After taking it across the timeline, Jackson had the ball poked loose by Clark's sophomore guard Quentin Pridgen (Fitchburg, Mass.) as he was awaiting a screen just over midcourt. Jackson recovered the ball, but time was ticking down and it was a busted play, so he gathered and drove hard with his right hand before lofting a high-arching floater over the outstretched arm of Pridgen, and swished in the game-winning shot right as the final horn sounded.
