Men's Basketball Blows Past NEC in GNAC Home Opener Saturday, 81-56

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - Seniors Jalen Samuels (Franklin, Mass.) and Tyree Mitchell (East Hartford, Conn.) both logged 20-plus point games to help the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's basketball team blow past the visiting New England College (NEC) Pilgrims, 81-56, in its Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) home opener Saturday afternoon inside James A. Calhoun Gymnasium in West Hartford, Conn. With the result, the Blue Jays improve to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in GNAC play, while the Pilgrims drop to 3-7 overall and 1-1 in league action.

Men's basketball takes a short break before returning to action on Tuesday, December 19 in the Sunshine State against Bethany Lutheran College in the opening game of the Steve Moore Sunshine Shootout. Tipoff between the Blue Jays and Vikings is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. inside the Harold & Ted Alfond Sports Center on the campus of Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla.
