No. 1 Men's Basketball Shoots Past Anna Maria in GNAC Quarterfinals, 101-62

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The nationally-ranked No. 1 and No. 1 South seed University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's basketball team shot past the visiting No. 4 South seed Anna Maria College (ANM) AMCATS, 101-62, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) quarterfinal contest inside James A. Calhoun Gymnasium Tuesday night in West Hartford, Conn. The Blue Jays were red-hot shooting on the night, connecting on 52.1% (38-73) of their attempts from the field, including 45.8% (11-24) from three, en route to scoring a season-high 101 points.

With the victory, Saint Joseph remains undefeated on the 2022-23 season, improves to 26-0 overall, and advances to the GNAC Semifinals. Anna Maria concludes its season with an overall record of 7-19. The Blue Jays will host No. 2 North seed Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. inside James A. Calhoun Gymnasium in the semifinals as they continue their quest for a third-straight conference championship. Tickets for Thursday night's game will go on sale 24 hours in advance of tipoff at www.usjbluejays.com/tickets.

Graduate student Ryan O'Neill (Litchfield, Conn.) once again paced the Blue Jays in the victory, netting an efficient game-high 22 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the field, including 4-of-7 from beyond the arc, in just 19 minutes of floor time. He was joined in double figures by fellow graduate student Alec Kinder (West Haven, Conn.), who finished with 11 points and matched his career-high with 12 rebounds, to post his fourth double-double of the season. Freshman Malcolm Eley (Bronx, N.Y.) chipped in with 10 points (4-4 FG, 2-3 FT) which also matched a career-high for the first-year guard. All 17 dressed Blue Jays played in the contest, 15 scored, and 11 netted five-plus points in the triumph.
