Martin and Powell helped power the Blue Jays to a 26-2 record for the 2021-22 season, marking the best winning percentage in program history and the third-best single-season record in the history of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) (Albertus Magnus went 28-2 in 2014-15 and 2011-12). Saint Joseph won its second-straight GNAC Championship this season and advanced to the NCAA Tournament, where the team fell 63-53 to Penn State Harrisburg in the NCAA Tournament First Round.

Martin made history this year winning the 2022 GNAC Player of the Year. He became one of just six players to win Player of the Year awards in consecutive seasons (won GNAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2020, no awards issued in 2021). He also made the All-GNAC First Team, as did Powell, who finished fourth in NCAA Division III in field-goal percentage this season (69.1%). Powell was fifth in field-goal percentage in 2020. Head coach Glen Miller was named GNAC Coach of the Year, while junior forward Jalen Samuels (Franklin, Mass.) was named GNAC Defensive Player of the Year.
