Jackson Jr. Named GNAC MBB Rookie of the Week for Third Time

WINTHROP, Mass. - For the second consecutive week and third time this season, freshman guard Delshawn Jackson Jr. (Hartford, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's basketball team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week, it was released by conference front office on Monday afternoon. Jackson Jr. has continued his torrid play for USJ to defend his weekly honor as the Blue Jays have now earned the Rookie of the Week award seven times though the first nine weeks of the 2018-19 season.

Jackson Jr. averaged 18.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game in conference clashes against Colby-Sawyer, Emmanuel, and Saint Joseph's College of Maine last week as USJ began GNAC play. Jackson Jr. highlighted the week with a 34-point (12-22 FG, 7-11 3PT) outburst in a tough road loss at SJC on Saturday. In the setback, the 5-10 rookie out of Hartford nailed seven three's and poured in 19 second-half points, as he did everything he could to keep the Blue Jays within striking distance of the Monks.
