Jackson Jr. Dubbed GNAC MBB Rookie of the Week

WINTHROP, Mass. - Freshman guard Delshawn Jackson Jr. (Hartford, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's basketball team was tabbed the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week, it was announced on Monday afternoon by the conference front office. Jackson Jr. marks the fourth consecutive recipient from USJ to earn the GNAC Rookie of the Week honor to start the 2018-19 basketball season.

Jackson Jr. filled the stat sheet to help the Blue Jays get back on track with a 2-0 week averaging 16.0 points, 5.5 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and turned it over just twice in the pair of victories. The 5-10 Hartford product opened the week with 16 points, five assists, and three rebounds in an 84-64 road win at USMMA on Tuesday before going for 16 points, six assists, and six boards in a big 108-63 victory over MCLA at home on Saturday. He committed just one turnover in each contest. On the week, Jackson Jr. shot 11-of-20 (55.0%) from the field including 5-of-9 (55.6%) from three and hit 5-of-7 (71.4%) attempts from the free-throw line.

USJ is back at home for the second of a three-game homestand, Saturday, December 8th versus Pine Manor College. Tip-off between the Blue Jays and Gators is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. inside the O'Connell Athletic Center, on the campus of USJ.
