Childs Named GNAC Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week

WINTHROP, Mass. - Freshman Chris Childs (Bronx, N.Y.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's basketball team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week, it was announced on Monday afternoon by the league's front office. It marks back-to-back weeks to start the 2018-19 basketball season that the Blue Jays garner GNAC Rookie of the Week honors.

Childs dropped 25 points on 7-of-15 (46.7%) shooting, including 5-of-8 (62.5%) from beyond the arc, and hit 6-of-7 attempts from the free-throw line to help lift the Blue Jays over the Green Mountain Eagles, 99-78, on Saturday in USJ's lone game of the week. Childs added four assists and three rebounds in 33 minutes of floor time in the win. The rookie is off to a hot start shooting so far this season especially from distance, connecting on 57.1% (12-21) of his three-point attempts. 12 of his 19 made FG's on the year have been triples.
