Eighteen From Field Hockey Earn NFHCA Academic Squad Honors

MANAHAWKIN, N.J. — Eighteen members of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) field hockey program were named to the 2024 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III National Academic Squad, it was announced by the association Wednesday afternoon. This year, over 1,880 student-athletes from 150 Division III institutions earned recognition for the high academic accolade. The total for USJ was the most for a team from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC).

Sponsored by OPA Winning Teams, the NFHCA National Academic Squad program honors undergraduate student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher through the fall semester, nominated by their NFHCA member coaches.

Seniors Abby Delgado (Southington, Conn.), Megan Strzepa (New Hartford, Conn.), and Maya Tomko (Sparta, N.J.), juniors Aurelia Barker (Thomaston, Conn.), Kaedence Brower (Hartford, Vt.), Devan Fox (Granville, Mass.), Ariana Komonaj (Thomaston, Conn.), and Isabella Pelletier (Weare, N.H.), sophomores Gabriella Borruso (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y. ), Marisa Coviello (Southwick, Mass.), Katrina Drouin (Enfield, Conn.), Taylor Lambert (Richmond, R.I.), and Alexa Maser (New Hartford, Conn.), and freshmen Abby Demers (Westbrook, Conn.), Grace Kociszewski (Thomaston, Conn.), Ella Michaud (Newington, Conn.), Eryn Ross (Westminster, Vt.) and Kaitlin Trudeau (Bernardston, Mass.) earned the national honor for the Blue Jays.

Mount Holyoke College led with 25 selections, while both Haverford College and Middlebury College each landed 24 student-athletes on the list. Impressively, 310 honorees earned this distinction for the fourth consecutive year.
