WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) field hockey team dominated the box score, but came up just a tad short, falling to the visiting Salem State University (SSU) Vikings, 2-1, Wednesday night in its 2023 home opener at the USJ Field Hockey Field. Freshman Gabriella Borruso (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) found the back of the cage to record her first collegiate goal and score the first goal of the young season for the Blue Jays in the setback.

Field hockey opens Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play, making the trek up to Standish, Maine to take on Saint Joseph's College of Maine. The action between the Blue Jays and Monks is set to get underway at 11:00 a.m. at the SJC Athletics Complex.
