The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) Department of Athletics announced the addition of Ally Hopson as the Blue Jays' new Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Success. Hopson, who returns to USJ after receiving her master's degree in Applied Behavioral Analysis from the school in 2019, officially started her role on March 6, 2023.

In her role, Hopson will lead and develop programming efforts to support USJ student-athletes in a wide variety of areas, including stress management, diversity, equity and inclusion, leadership development, nutrition, mental health, academic excellence, professional development and violence and Title IX support.

Hopson joins the Blue Jays' staff from the Grit and Gratitude Gym in nearby Bloomfield, Conn., where she is currently co-owner and a certified personal trainer. In her position, she supervises and facilitates workshops focused on mental health, women's empowerment, skills training, and nutrition. Hopson also creates educational content regarding health and wellness to benefit clients and the public community.

Prior to earning her master's degree from USJ in 2019, Hopson attended the University of Connecticut in Storrs, Conn., where she earned a bachelor's degree in Speech Language and Hearing Sciences in 2016. She was also a standout four-year varsity student-athlete as a member of the Huskies' rowing team, while also serving as a team captain.
