Bio

Amanda Devitt begins her seventh year overall with the Blue Jays in the fall of 2025. Devitt became the new Director of Athletics at USJ on June 24, 2019, becoming the second Athletic Director in USJ history, succeeding Bill Cardarelli after 26 years at the helm.

Devitt leads a USJ athletics program that is currently comprised of 16 NCAA Division III-sanctioned varsity teams, several intramural programs, and numerous recreation and wellness initiatives. She oversees the development and execution of a long-term strategic vision for USJ athletics, managing the day-to-day operations of the athletics department and serving as an advocate for the needs of student-athletes, coaches, and staff.

During her tenure with USJ, the Blue Jays have won seven Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championships and made eight NCAA Tournament Appearances. Devitt was instrumental in securing hosting rights for the 2023 NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Tournament First and Second Rounds, as well as the 2024 NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse Tournament First Round.

In the 2022-23 academic year, Devitt was recognized by the GNAC as the GNAC Executive of the Year, becoming the first-ever recipient from USJ to receive the accolade. The Blue Jays had a historic year under the direction of Devitt in 2022-23, receiving the first GNAC Commissioner's Cup title in school history, as six varsity men's programs combined to post a memorable 2022-23 campaign.

The university has also undergone historic changes under the helm of Devitt, as the USJ Softball Field was renovated to become a fully turfed complex. Additionally, Devitt oversaw the construction of the newly turfed USJ Baseball Field and the installation of bleacher seating and a press box at the USJ Athletics Field.

Prior to joining the Blue Jays, Devitt served as the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Services and Success at the University of Hartford. She oversaw the Hawks' Academic and Student-Athlete Services department, which included NCAA Compliance and Title IX. She served as a vital member of the Department of Athletics Leadership Team, assisting in the development and implementation of short and long-term strategic goals, with an emphasis on student-athlete academics and development. She was also a department liaison to Student Affairs, Title IX, Admissions, Financial Aid, College Evaluators, Faculty Athletic Representative, Meal Plans, and Residential Life.

Prior to Hartford, Devitt spent six years at Division III Wentworth Institute of Technology (WIT) as the Leopards' Athletic Coordinator and Head Women's Basketball Coach. She currently holds the third-highest career winning percentage amongst all WIT women's basketball head coaches. As Athletic Coordinator, she organized and supervised more than 100 student-employees within the athletic department, oversaw and staffed home athletic contests, and guided the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

Additionally, while at WIT, Devitt added the role of Senior Woman Administrator to her resumé during her final two years. Her primary responsibilities dealt with scheduling outside group rentals of athletic facilities, coordinating and distributing NCAA grant money, and aiding in alumni relations for the athletic department.

Before WIT, Devitt started her athletics administration career as Assistant Athletic Director and Head Women's Basketball Coach at Southern Maine Community College from 2004 to 2007.

Devitt is a graduate of the University of New England, where she earned a bachelor's degree in sports and fitness management. She went on to obtain a master's degree in sport management from Old Dominion University.
