Win No. 18 in Regular-season Finale

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Mary Hyde (Derby, Conn.) scored a career-high 24 points and Nathalie Mastarreno (Glastonbury, Conn.) had 18 on six three-pointers as Saint Joseph College finished its winningest regular season ever with a 75-52 victory Saturday over Pine Manor.

Saint Joseph finished the regular season 18-6 and 8-4 in the GNAC. Pine Manor concluded its season 6-16 and 3-9. When the GNAC Tournament pairings are announced, Saint Joseph is expected to be the No. 5 seed and travel to No. 4 Norwich Tuesday for a first-round game.

Both Hyde, a freshman and Mastarreno, a senior, shot well. Hyde made nine of 14 field goal attempts including four of seven three-pointers and added seven rebounds. Mastarreno made six of eight three-point attempts and was 6-of-9 overall and contributed five assists.

Saint Joseph trailed for only 28 seconds early in the game and rode the hot shooting of Mastarreno and freshman Devon Diliberto (Waterbury, Conn.) to take control early. The Blue Jays led 12-7, five minutes into the game, then didn't miss a single shot over the next five. Mastarreno made three three-pointers and Diliberto three baskets and two free throws to help Saint Joseph to a 29-12 advantage with 9:55 left in the half. The Blue Jays shot 16 for 30 (53 percent) in the first half en route to a 46-21 halftime lead.

Diliberto finished with 17 points. Diamond Doe (Lynn, Mass.) added eight points and seven rebounds. Tia Nelson led Pine Manor with 18 points and Paulette Wright had 13 points and 12 rebounds.
